Leader: John N
Hikers Joanne, Bev, Shirley, Bill W, Peter, Ann, John N, Rudi
This hike was coordinated with the Monday 8:30 hike because it had a common starting point. Part of the Monday group did a shorter hike lead by John G. another part did the longer hike. It was a nice day overcast at first but during the hike we had sunny periods. The hike started at Dominion Street
with both groups heading in the same direction. the first part was a steady uphill and the slope increased when we started up the Quarrymans Side trail.
It was a steady up hill with switchbacks. We all took a rest at the top, this was a difficult start for some of our hikers. We proceed toward Tobermory and came out at the top of Puckering Lane. We then started down the Dorothy Medhurst side trail
and retraced our steps back down Dominion street. At the bottom we encountered some researches from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources taking photos of the fish in the Credit river.
We then crossed the Forkes of the Credit Road and proceed on to the Willoughby Property where the Trimble Side Trail (named after long time Belfountain residents Roy and Eleanor Trimble) starts.
At first it was a steep switch back but soon became a wide comfortable path leading up the escarpment and beside the West Credit River.
We then met the Crows nest Side trail (loop) and proceeded over some new boardwalk in a clockwise direction. At the top where we could see the road beside us we stopped for lunch. Some of our hikers only had snacks since they decided only at the last minute to join the Blue & White explorers. After Lunch we continued on the Trimble side trail , it was more rugged and it lead all the way into Belfountain. Some of the group felt too tired to return the way we had come the drivers, Rudi and John accompanied by Peter found their way down the road back to the cars
while the rest went into Belfountain and found a coffee shop. We all met up at the coffee shop and took our separate ways going back. It was a delightful hike that we all enjoyed.
