Leader: John N.
Hikers Karen, John N, Peter, John G and Ian
We began the hike on highway 19 at the Prince of Wales Side Trail on an overcast day. Retracing part of our previous hike we joined the Primrose Loop Side Trail then crossed 19 and joined the main trail at Murphy’s Pinnacle.
An uphill climb took us over boardwalks and bridges until we reached the Boyne Valley Side Trail at km 16.4.
Entering this side trail took us through a varied terrain that included rolling meadows, forests and road walking and led us to rejoin the main trail at km 19.9.
Now we entered several ravines, down one side and up the other, but hiking along the bottom of the ravine and enclosed on both sides by steep slopes was a memorable experience. Finally a long, seemingly never ending switch back took us up and out of the last ravine.
Emerging on 2nd Line we followed it to the car waiting at the end of the road.
We had set a good pace and finished before noon. After retrieving the other vehicle we stopped at Pete’s for coffee. Fortunately the rain held off and we completed another enjoyable hike.
