Our 6A hike was a make-up hike for BT end-to-end qualification. Starting at the Caledon Hills/Dufferin Hi-Land sections boundary marker 70.0, the Hike headed south along a wet snow covered 3rd Line EHS towards Dunby Rd.
At approx. 68.5 km marker the Trail turned right to climb a rocky and steep path via some crevices and a series of steps to the top of the Escarpment. Then moving south through a mixed forest the Trail descends along a rocky path to 3rd Line EHS and towards the Dunby Rd parking area to complete this section and reposition our cars for the next hike.
Hike 6B is in the Albion Hills area. Two cars were positioned at the Palgrave CA parking area off Hwy 50 from which the Hike carpooled to Coolihans SR, Bruce Trail marker 38.0, to access the Main Trail.
Heading south east to intersect with the Palgrave Side Trail at km 37.3 the Hike turned onto the Palgrave ST.
From here the Hike traversed rolling terrain, crossing Centreville Creek Rd, The Gore Rd, Humber Station Rd, and Duffy’s Lane to join the Oak Ridges Trail just before reaching Hwy 50 and the parking lot. Most of this trail runs within Toronto Region Conservation Authority lands and provides an eastern link between the Oak Ridges Trail and the Bruce Trail. The nearby Caledon Trailway can be reached by heading south on the Oak Ridges Trail for a little over a kilometre to Palgrave and catch the Caledon Trailway as it crosses Hwy 50.
Following recovery of the staged cars on Coolihans SR, the Hike proceeded to Eddie’s for post-hike debrief.
This site contains the details of the the Blue & White Explorers which was a regular program of the Pathfinders Hiking Group of Oakville .
