Hike Report - Niagara - Kinsmen Community Park to Pedestrian Bridge on Gibson St. Grimsby

Section: Niagara - Kinsmen Community Park (68.1) to Pedestrian Bridge on Gibson St. Grimsby (End of Niagara BTC section) (81.1) Total 13 km.

Hike Leader: John N.

Hikers: John & Karen, Jennifer & Roy, Bill, John G, Francis, Ann, Jim, Stephen

At 8:00 am , we met at the Colborne Senior Centre to arrange the car pooling. We drove down the QEW to Grimsby exiting at Casablanca, because Christie St. was closed. Along Hwy #81 towards Beamsville, we got momentarily lost as we turned onto Mountainview Rd. instead of Mountain Rd. in order to find our start location at the Kinsmen Community Park. The day was Sunny, cool with very few flies or incest’s to bother us.
We maintained a good pace of approximately 4k/hr. over the very hilly terrain. Because of the excess rain, the seeping water from the rocks and several flowing streams, the trail was very muddy in some locations.

The trail followed the Escarpment crest as we ascended and descended many hills, crossing several roads and through or around several Winery estate properties.
Look carefully,  geese were with us today.

Organized Crime Winery !!

The leaves and foliage of the trees were bursting forth making the woods very colorful with many shades of green.

This Section included in the Blue & White portfolio was only white so at the end of the hike, walking sticks were crossed to congratulate Stephen on completed the Niagara Bruce Trail Section.
