Hike report December 20, 2010
Leader: John Nourse
Section: Toronto/Iroquoia Hilton Falls to Rattlesnake Point Conservation areas (11.5km)
Hikers: John & Karen, Bill& Diane, Rudi& Margaret, Mary K., Agnes, Sandra, Jennifer , Carol, Jim, Stephen bypassed the Glen Eden Side Trail.
The Blue trails that we covered to day included Rattlesnake Point Access Trail, Glen Eden Side Trail which are in the Iroquoia section. In the Toronto section we covered the Philip Gosling Side Trail and Hilton Falls Side Trail. We covered a portion of the white trails as well. Jim, Carol and Stephen branched off and covered the white section they needed for their End to End hikes. John, our leader, has been very accommodating in allowing some divergence in the plans as long as safety is not a factor.
It was a great day for a hike. Hiking was on snow covered grounds. We passed the lime kilns restoration and through several hardwood forested areas as well as new planted restoration patches. The sun shone as we approached the Nassagaweya canyon lookout where we had lunch.
Great hiking weather and conditions! A very peaceful beginning to a very hectic holiday season week!
