The Team at Hilton Falls

We met at the Colborne Centre at 8:00.  It looked like it might rain as we headed north to the Pear Tree Parking Lot.  By the time we got there the sky had cleared.  After dropping off two cars we drove to the public golf course were we started the hike.

First crevice on the trail
At the 1.8 km point on the main trail we started the Hilton Falls Side Trail which follows along the edge of the Hilton Falls Reservoir.    Following the Escarpment brow we passed a glacial pothole on the way to the falls.

We continued along Sixteen Mile Creek before entering the bush.  This bush is unusual as young oaks are growing up under a canopy of maples.

At the Hilton Falls10.2 km marker we entered the Woodland Trails Scout Camp road into a cedar forest and then through a mixed forest.
We had lunch at a pond where we observed many minnows and small fish.  Some of us threw in crusts of our sandwiches and watched the small fish jump for them.

After lunch we continued along the trail to the Al Shaw side trail which led us back to the main trail and back to the cars.
We finished the hike around 2:00 and had coffee at the golf club before heading home.
This was a wonderful start to our blue and white adventure.
